Binding Death Nominations

Superannuation benefits do not automatically form part of a member’s estate. Generally, the trustee has the power to determine how the superannuation benefits are distributed, unless a binding death nomination has been submitted by the member to the trustee. Some binding nominations lapse every three years, depending on the governing rules of the Fund.

We recommend reviewing your binding death nominations regularly to ensure they are still in accordance with your wishes. Should you wish to discuss updating any nominations you have in place, please contact us.
